Proposals for the 2012-13 Fenwick Fellow program are being accepted through Monday, April 23. The competition is open to tenured and tenure-track faculty members at Mason. The selection of the fellow will be announced by mid-May.
The Fenwick Fellowship is awarded annually to a Mason faculty member to pursue a research project that uses and enhances the University Libraries’ resources while advancing knowledge in his or her field. It provides one award of up to $5,000 for research materials and assistance, along with use of an office in Fenwick Library.
Applicants should submit a brief proposal and curriculum vitae. Proposals should contain:
- A project summary and information about the central problem to be addressed
- Evidence of the applicant’s previous work in the general area
- Research methodologies to be used
- Explanation of why research space in the library is needed
- A budget with specific materials or services to be purchased with the award
- Expected results of the fellowship
A six-member selection committee will review the applications and select one to recommend to the university librarian.
The following spring after the completed fellowship, University Libraries will sponsor a public Fenwick Fellow lecture.
For complete application and guidelines information, see the libraries’ website or email Debra Hogan (dhogan1@gmu.edu) in the University Librarian’s Office.
