Biography

Building on over 40 years of nursing practice and research experience, Dr. Kathi Huddleston’s research interest has focused on improving health outcomes for children. She has conducted research in the intensive care areas and the community health arena. Her interests range from genomics to the microbiome, from neurodevelopment assessment to pediatric obesity. She is particularly interested in the path of translational health, transcending existing structures and boundaries to create new knowledge that will improve health by bringing together the community, academia and health care systems to learn from each other. Dr. Huddleston is the Principal Investigator of the Virginia-GMU Cohort of the NIH federally funded study “Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes” (ECHO) involving over 50,000 children nationwide.
