Biography
Dr. Molly Everett Davis is Associate Professor and Interim Co-Director of Field Education. She is a graduate of LSU (Psychology), Tulane University (Social Work) and Florida State University (Higher Education). She has a diverse background as a faculty member teaching and developing curriculum related projects as well as an expert in field education. She has an extensive background in training social work professionals and educators on platforms at the national, state and local level. She has also completed leadership training at Oxford University and training in South Africa. She teaches and writes about trauma informed care and trauma across the life course, disaster behavioral health, behavioral health issues and substance abuse prevention and early intervention. She is a skilled community development professional who has started many community projects and community organizations. She is the author of her own model for developing cultural competence (Lifeways) and trauma transformation. She was recently designated as a Scholar with the Virginia Geriatric Education Center. She has received awards and acknowledgements for innovative projects, most recently receiving a Commendation from the United States Public Health Services Corp. In addition to the areas listed above she served on the task force developing Advanced Competencies for working with Military Families and Veterans. DR Davis is an accreditation site visitor for the Council on Social Work Education. Most recent publications have contributed to how trauma impacts social work field education and training of students. Also trauma informed principles are linked to proposing innovations in disaster behavioral health care in reducing the impact on aging survivors. DR Davis was an early innovator in addressing the impact of the COVID pandemic in continuing services to vulnerable populations. She has an advanced certificate in Telehealth/TeleMedicine. She was a team member for Project Echo, an interprofessional team of health care professionals, researchers and medical professionals, monitoring real time COVID statistics and programming during the pandemic.
